"Ten Years After" has some great songs. The band really is highly underrated.

BOC - Veteran of the Psychic Wars

Buck Dharma is underrated.

Yeah, I have a hook and cross tattoo. I hate when random people ask what it is because it always leads to "MORE COWBELL!"

Pink Floyd (David Gilmour) - Comfortably Numb (Pulse version is #1 for me)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Ledzep - Stairway to Heaven (one of my least favorite songs by them, but its iconic)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
Van Halen - Eruption
Ozzy (Randy Rhoads) - Crazy Train
SRV - Texas Flood
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (would not be near my top 10, but undeniably iconic)
Derek and the Dominoes (Clapton/Allman) - Layla

While many of these are not my actual favorites, they all belong on this list, because you can't find many that are more "iconic."

same here

Hendrix, PF, SRV, Allman bros would be at the top of my personal list.

At least all in a top 20-30 range I'd say.

You'll be hard pressed to find anything as "ICONIC" and amazing as:

“La Villa Stangiato” - Alex Liefson (RUSH)

Robert Smith from The Cure has an amazing guitar solo in "The Kiss". Starts about 40 seconds into the video and lasts close to 4 minutes.

First of all, it's Freebird and then everyone else if we're talking about iconic solo's.

Hotel California - Eagles
Stairway - Zep
Sweet Home Alabama - Skynyrd
Sweet Child O' Mine - GNR
November Rain - GNR
Comfortably Numb - Floyd
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Mr. Crowley - Rhoads
Fade To Black - Metallica
Blue on Black - KWS
Eruption - EVH
Time - Floyd
Panama - EVH
Far Behind (listen to it over again) - Candlebox (Klett)
Stranglehold - Nugent
La Grange - Gibbons
While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Clapton
Sultans of Swing - Knopfler
Heartbreaker - Zep
All Along the Watchtower - Hendrix

You cant consider a song that has a lead guitar lick as the melody (Voodoo Child, Layla). I also dont think it could be in a song where it's literally lead playing the entire song (Texas Flood, Still Got the Blues). The solo must be unique and grab you.

And it pains me to say that as SRV and Moore are far and away my two favorite players ever and are my main inspiration.

He didn't actually play it in BTTF, he learned the riffs for the movie and intended to do it for real, but decided he couldn't pull it off. So while his fretting during the performance in the movie is pretty accurate, the actual sound was overdubbed by the guitar teacher that taught him the riffs.
