I as well, Ableton users are talented I am sure, but live mixing is simply great.

Most DJs are some kind of a music producer so they go hand in hand. Hybrid was real big for me back when I was still into the 'scene' I know they basically spun and made music at the same time.

Also, if you really want to go toe to toe on DJs because of your affinity for Avicii, I would say that Nicky Romero had a better year overall. This is funny because these 2 collabed on a few songs last year and all of them were bangers. Here is Nicktim

Any list with Steve Aoki in the top 20 is a clown show

Let's just call Aoki a clown show.

I'm sure he's probably a great DJ and at one point was prolly doing a lot of mixing live, but his show has just grown popular because of his stage antics so that's what he sticks with. More of a party and less of a performance.

I'm not sure how you guys feel about it, but i personally like the transition from mixing on CDJ's and vinyl to artists mixing out of Ableton and/or other production/performance programs through a midi controller.

There are some guys out there that are insanely talented at it, but it's not "traditional" so it gets overlooked.

True that. Anyone who just talks about how DJs not using vinyl aren't talented might as well be using a rotary phone too.

Not sure why all the hate on Aoki. Dude is a skilled producer who works his arse off. His job is to put on entertaining shows and that's what he does. DJing is overrated as frick

First off this is a thread about DJ'ing, not producing. He's obviously extremely talented at producing.

Second, I dunno how you could say that DJ'ing is overrated. Aren't you a DJ?

Third, that's fine if he wants to act like a clown on stage. But he shouldn't be on the top 100 DJ list. There are tons of DJ/producers out there with way more talent.
