They're one of my favorites and they haven't been able to match Turn On the Bright Lights, Antics, or Our Love to Admire, but their last (Marauder) was pretty good.

The new album isn't bad by any means (imo) but all 11 tracks pretty much sound the exact same. I've listened to it all the way through twice now and it almost sounds like one long 45 minute song.

That’s my experience with them over the past three or four albums, and TOTBL is one of my top five albums ever.

Paul Banks’s side project Muzz put out a better album than any recent Interpol album, imo.

Did you ever listen to his Julian Plenti stuff? I wish he would do another one of those albums. That one is great.

ETA: Apparently he did put out two more under that name.. 10 years ago. Shows how much I pay attention

I’ve heard a song or two. Really not enough to create an informed opinion.

Take their last 3 albums and you have the longest song in the history of rock music. Their first 3 records are some of my favorites, and they will always hold a special place in my music heart; however, they have become a stale copy of their former selves. There's nothing new or innovative from them anymore; they just run through the motions. The spark is gone.

And yes I have listed to the new record. It's just a rinse and repeat set of songs

His first solo record under JP is amazing. His second was just ok

Pretty standard Interpol. I’m probably in the minority but I think El Pintor is great.
