Favorite "new" band. at least new to me.
Hard to say b/c their latest seems different from Black Dirt Sessions. Divine Providence is atop my leaderboard currently but Black Dirt Sessions is what drew me to them.
I'd probably rank them in order of release starting with the latest going backwards.
Deer Tick. They seem pretty unique to me only because of the vocals of John McCauley.

Just roadtripped from nola to the keys and my friend forcefully introduced me to deer tick. I'm glad he did. I've been listening to all of their stuff on rhapsody all day long at work today

That's my 3rd favorite.
They have a lot of mellow tunes on the albums, but live they're pretty raucous and their gigs are a party.

He is also in The Diamond Rugs, and they just released an album about a month ago. It is a solid listen.
