Nothing like Nazz stealing the open to "Can't Explain", I guess.

The Who has to be the Grandfather of Power Pop, yes? It's all here.

We went on a world tour in 1965 and we came back March 1965, switched on the radio and heard ‘I Can’t Explain’ and I thought, ‘Ooooh – someone’s pinched our sound.'” - Ray Davies

Heart - Alone

Bryan Adams - Heaven, Everything I Do...

Def Lep. - Animal

These 3 have numerous power pop ballads/songs and still play them on tour.

would never accuse these guys of power pop, but they knew a killer riff when the heard it (and promptly ripped it off):

They were mostly a punk act, and you can hear there is some overflow from that on this track

They would evolve into the cowpunk band Rank and File

Phil Seymour was in a duo and agreed to call it The Dwight Twilley Band

I'm not sure if even Ian Stewart would have agreed to that

From a collection of 1974-80 material that was never released. In 1993 Shelter records finally opened up the vaults.

The Locals - "You Never Have Fun" (1980)

The only release from this NYC band

Sounds better when slowed down to around 80%
