In my opinion. 75+ minutes of fricking rock. So fricking good.

Oh yeah. Do it. If you like southern rock but aren’t familiar with The Outlaws this might kinda blow you away.

Green Grass And High Tides studio version is pretty long, especially for back in the day. On here, it’s a 20+ minute magnum opus.

Thanks but it’s not a poll thread. Thread is about The Outlaws Bring It Back Alive album.
Please tell me that’s fairly clear in the title (that it’s about a particular album).
Any opinion on the album though is welcomed.

Maybe you should have put that in the title then...just saying.

Sorry to be a dick. I think it’s pretty clear but I’ll probably change it. Wanted name and title in the title at first but didn’t fit well.

Didn't mean to derail your thread. Sorry about that

Since all southern rock is overrated, I sincerely doubt there is an extremely underrated anything in southern rock.

It’s no sweat dude. Sorry again to come off as a dick. The title now is more like I initially wanted but I actually didn’t think it would fit. Looks like it does though.

Ha. Yeah I guess I was. Was a slight bit inebriated and fell asleep before changing it.

The Outlaws
I've seen them a few times live and this album catches them at their best & in their prime. Saw them a few years ago without Hughie and it wasn't that good from a vocals perspective.

Hughie Thomasson is an almost forgotten giant of Southern Rock. Obviously the key (not only, but key) member of the original Outlaws, he was also invited to replace Ed King on guitar with the reformed Skynyrd in 1996.
Recall at that point, you had Gary Rossington, Ricky Medlocke (Blackfoot) and Thomasson (The Outlaws) on lead, giving that 1996 to 2005 version of Skynyrd probably the best 1-2-3 lead players - by any rock band, ever. Now, not a lot of bands carry 3 leads and Skynyrd always had 3 great ones, but that lineup was absolutely incredible live. And Medlocke even had cred as an early drummer for Skynyrd before forming Blackfoot in the 1970s.
But, Thomasson as a lead guitar/lead vocalist/songwriter is almost unparalleled in southern or classic rock.

Halfway agree and you mentioned the other guy; Rickie Medlocke also did all 3 even tho he didn't play a ton of lead, he was Blackfoot's lead vocalist and coupled with Jakson Spires did a majority of their song writing. Don't necessary disagree about that LS guitar lineup tho; it was badass for sure.

I was listening to SiriusXM 30 today and heard Johnny Van Zant introduce Green Grass and High Tides (they played the studio version). He mentioned how he was a good friend of Hughie and that Ronnie had been instrumental in getting The Outlaws a record deal (which is true).
