Add your favorite oldies songs to this thread. When I say "oldies", I'm more referring to pop (maybe some early Motown / R&B) from the 50's to some time in the 60's before rock & roll really became popular.

A couple of my favorites: Del Shannon - Runaway

Buddy Holly - Everyday

Anything with Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson and Otis Redding pretty much. I favor Smokey, though. I like the songs he’s written.

quote:

Jay and The Americans - "Cara Mia"

A personal cool story bro about a Jay and the Americans member. Jay Reincke was the trumpet player in my wedding.

We got married in the Presbytére and we chose “This Magic Moment” as our exit song, played by harp and trumpet.. I had no idea who the trumpeter or harpist was, just assumed they were small time French Quarter musicians just trying to make a dime... This guy, the trumpet player, shows up with a vinyl record of the single and gives it to us as a wedding gift. I’m just like oh yeah cool thanks man, just being polite, and he’s like, “Yeah, I’m one of the originals band members, this was a top ten for us. When people choose the song in a wedding I play in, I give one of these to the couple.” Always thought that was kind of a cool footnote for our wedding and was a nice gift.

To add to the thread:

Roy Orbison - Crying
