One of my favorite shows I have is from Switzerland in 1991 with The Meters featuring the JB Horns (Maceo Parker, Fred Weasley, etc)

It is the culmination of the two greatest funk artists in James Brown and The Meters.

Part I
Part II

This show was released by Meters bassist George Porter Jr for free

eta: the above links are for 12.7.91 . I am going to try to find 12.12.91 which is probably the better of the two shows, although both are funking fantastic.

I'm sure you've seen this set by the Meters at the Howlin Wolf in 2012.

The Meters-RedHotChiliPeppers Jam Voodoo New Orleans 2006

This was one of my favorite peformances I've ever seen live. Everyone killed it, but my highlight is John and Leo trading licks in "Handclapping Song"

Newish spot on Freret. I haven't been, but I hear it is very tiny. Mostly indie shows.

Was just listening to 10.31.98. I agree, would be a perfect opener.

Heady, What happened to The Givers? I thought they were about to get bigger and then I haven't heard from them in years. Are they on your radar?
