Has the festival grounds managed to avoid most of the rain this week?

Yes. The weather today is as perfect as it gets.

Today reminds me of that crisp fall day when you are going to the first cooler weather college football game of the season.

I'm very jealous of anyone festing today.

Same here

Thursday at Jazz Fest is always sweet because of the heady crowd, especially this year since they have SCI and not WSP SUX

It will be a good crowd to see a great jam band that hasn't lost their touch like that snoozefest last Saturday

I don't know anyone who thought it was a snoozefest except you and some idiot I saw on Sunday.

Switch out The Line for a one time cover, Hood for You Enjoy Myself, and KDF for PYITE and people would be praising it

Eta: and maybe take Rift out for something

I enjoyed Rift and thought KDF was a solid opener for the crowd. YEM and Gin would have made the entire setlist a massive improvement. Grind was a slap in the face after that set break.

I don't get the hate for Grind. It took all but 2 minutes up.

On the topic of highlights- DWD was its stellar self and included bits of bright jamming and eventual led to a sonic soundscape orchestrated by Page. Light (although I hate the composed section) started to really get out there and develop a nice groove before heading into ambient territory. Those two songs kicked arse, as did the Type 1 Birds.

I'm surprised you haven't whined about Julius being the encore. I guess because you refuse to believe that Phish at Jazzfest was a let down. Hopefully they update their equipment so they don't keep ruining legendary acts.

In all seriousness, they did play some good tunes. Birds>Twist was great. The second set started off great and then just dropped off. I'm not a fan of KDF as the opener

It's not that I hate it, there's just a laundry list of closers that would have been better. The DWD to open set 2 was obviously noice. Wolfman's also had a really nice jam.

2001 would have been nice for all the first timers. That song is great for people unfamiliar with Phish.

I really wish Heady would change the title of this thread.
Official Jazz Fest thread it is not.

2014 jam band pissing match thunder dome no one gives a shite would be more appropriate/accurate.

95% of this thread is referring to Jazzfest. If you have some input on the matter you're welcome to post it instead of being a whiny little bitch
