I almost cried, it was great, no great dosent even explain how good that really was. Truly lucky to be brought up in a family that appreciates music and knows how we got to where we are today. long live the Beatles and the GOAT

The show brought back a lot of memories for me. I remember watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I was a 12 year old kid in the 7th grade. The Beatles ruled music from the time they came to America in 1964 until their breakup in 1970 when I was in college. And 50 years later their music is still enjoyed by millions.
My biggest regret (musically, at least) is that I ignored a lot of John Lennon's music after the break-up. I so disagreed with his political views. That was my loss. It wasn't until the release of Double Fantasy (minus the Yoko Ono tracks) that I gave myself the chance to appreciate him. After he was killed in 1980, I began listening to a lot of his music and made up for lost time. Seeing how the war in Viet Nam ended made me realize that he was probably right and I was probably wrong about the war.
People either love or hate The Beatles. I am an avid Beatles lover. My best memories of HS from 1965-1969 are intertwined with music -- the Beatles and MoTown. While the world was full of turmoil, the music was great.

A hell of a trip down memory lane. I was 16 the first time I saw them on the Sullivan show. Their music changed more things than you can count on one hand.

Didn't Clapton hook up with somebodies wife or something?
Patti Boyd. He wrote "Layla" about being obsessed with her. Between that song and "Something in the way she moves" she did inspire 2 pretty damn good songs. (Though George has often denied that, saying that it was written in general, not solely about her. He once claimed that he was thinking of Ray Charles when he wrote it. ) Her sister Jennifer Boyd even got into that act...Donovan wrote the song Jennifer Juniper for her.
My only (somewhat) disappointment for the show was Annie Lennox. Fool on the Hill isn't the easiest song to do but I hold her to a higher standard than others because of her incredible voice.
I didn't see Johnny Depp. Did he look / sound half as bad as Sean Penn did?

They both seemed pretty twisted. My wife was wondering why I kept yelling "Go home, Yoko. You're drunk!" at the TV. And Ringo Starr has got to be the luckiest human in the history of western civilization.
I was expecting a total cheese fest, but this was one well-done show! We love you, Beatles! Oh, yes we do!!

I don't think that a day goes by when Ringo doesn't realize this.
I love Ringo and The Beatles but I can't tell you how many times I thought to myself, "was Pete Best THAT bad?"

He was. Ringo was actually the right guy for the gigat the time.
They coulda done a lot better auditioning session guys but Ringo had the personna to be a Beatle and prolly had enough sense to stay the hell out of the way of the creative process. Macca was easily the best drummer The Beatles ever had. Ringo had big clown factor working in his favor and the chicks loved him!

Couple thoughts after watching it on the DVR:
One of the better network concert specials I've seen the last few years...CBS did a great job.
Doppelgängers:
Peter Frampton - Steven Keaton from Family Ties (Michael Gross)
Don Was - comedian Jeffrey Ross
Also, nice bonus Quint Davis cutaway during Sgt. Peppers...now even more mad Sir Paul isn't playing the fest this year, rumors were swirling early on.
Last one...Ringo has gotten a lot of miles out of that "white people sway back and forth" as a frontman
(Another bonus cutaway...Craig Robinson!)

Fantastic show! I actually clapped at the tv and got a little misty when they did Hey Jude. I really enjoyed watching the audience enjoy the show. Rita Wilson was having a good ol time, lol.
