Great insight into one of the greatest collections of talent ever. All just basically happened by accident.

I watched the first few minutes. Looking forward to watching the rest when I have the time. Thanks!

Love the Wilburys....only thing that I think that would have added to the group would have been to have Levon Helm on drums.

Wouldn't that have been amazing?

Just love the way they checked their egos at the door and just made some great music.

If anyone ever asks "what does rock and roll sound like". This is your answer.

I've been thinking about this over lunch and I've come to the conclusion that it could only have happened by accident. If you're Tom Petty and you think to yourself, "Hey, wouldn't it be great if I could get Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and George Harrison to all come play on a record with me?" people would think you'd lost your mind.

The Dylan angle was not too hard to imagine. I think Petty and and the Heartbreakers were at one point functioning as Dylan's back up band on a Dylan tour in either 83 or 84.

Seems like I read Dylan wasn’t that interested in TW.

For me, Orbison > all the others.

Wish they would have toured. I know George was not a fan of touring but I think he warmed to the idea of it with them from what I've read

How awesome that they had Orbison's guitar in a rocking chair during this video !

Petty: "we had to audition (for lead vocals on some songs)....it was intimidating."
The collective talent during those sessions! TWs has to be one of the bands that truly earns the title "Supergroup."

They were and did some big shows with the Grateful Dead.

I believe Jeff Lynne was already producing Petty's album and Petty was working with Dylan.

Jeff Lynne was the connection for that collection of musicians. He produced albums in the 80’s for Orbison, Petty, and Harrison. Huge albums for all of them.
