Not critically acclaimed and little commercial success.
"Bohemian Like You"
"Godless"
"Holding Me Up"
"Horse Pills"
Interested in your opinions about this band.

Watch the movie Dig is you haven't. It's about the Brian Jonestown Massacre, but the DWs play a big part in it. Absolutely great documentary.

I don't know how I missed them the first go round but I discovered them over a year ago. When I make a playlist for a single band or singer I only put the songs I really like. My DW playlist must have 3 hours of music on it.

Welcome to the Monkey House is their best album, imo, and yes I'm a DW fan and love their other albums.
I appreciate the DWs for experimenting with a different sound on Welcome to the Monkey House. It received a TON of criticism for the change in sound, but from first hand experience that album (more than the other albums) is a huge hit at a chill but energized lake party.
So take that for what it's worth.
I prefer Welcome to the Monkey House over the rest. It's more fun.

Probably the biggest song of the year, and they surely made BIG money from Vodafone (probably the most memorable and successful Vodafone advert song, edging out Jet´s Are You Gonna Be My Girl)

they were cool a decade ago. They put on a good show.
Best part of them is their fake feud with brian jonestown massacre. That dude is just fricking weird. I met him at an LA show around 2001. Like 20 ppl showed up to the show, and he just went into the crowd and started chatting with us.

^^^^This x 1000
I got turned onto the Dandy's on their second album. Been a huge fan ever since, alhough their work became very spotty after 'Thirteen Tales'.
Their second and third albums are simply awesome, there's no other way to say it, esp. 'Thirteen Tales'.
Their second album has some absolutely mind blowing tunes too. "I Love You", "Orange", and many more.
'Dig' is a must see if you're a fan.

BJM
Courtney Taylor-Taylor was obsessed with Anton Newcombe in that documentary. I don't blame him. Newcombe made some awesome music back in the day.

Just finished the documentary Dig and so I'm clinically depressed now. Anton Newcombe of BJM is such a train wreck he makes Jim Morrison look normal.
I'd like to see more Dandy Warhols.
I was listening to "Holding Me Up" with headphones on tonight wondering "what instruments are making those sounds?"

they also were quite cheeky with David Bowie, who at that time was always pointing out bands that looked to have had some substance.

do yourself a favor and listen to some of the new BJM.
"Mad Lightning" for example....it's amazing how he is still in front of everyone else.

Mad Lightning is from around 2010, right? Regardless, I just listened to it and the song is incredible. Thanks for the suggestion.

I saw him on a top 10 list of bands with members who don't play anything
