Is there anything better than elixers?

I'd be interested to know. I play up to 3 hours a day (2 6-string acoustics and a 12-string acoustic) and I've found Elixirs to last 2-3 times longer than the D-Addario's I used to use. Elixirs are worth the extra money, I believe.

That's all I've ever bought. They last long enough to justify the price for sure, but if there's something better I'd like to know.

This is all I have used for years, especially for the sound. Yet, I find myself still popping strings so often. I pop at least a string a week.

Bumping up to the next gauge will help. Also, try a more flexible pick if you can stand the different feel. If neither of the above work, you aren't doing it right.

I don't care for coated strings, as they sound tinny to my ears (so I put up with changing regular phosphor bronze for the tone) BUT, I'd say Elixers are probably as good as any.

HOWEVER I'd definitely recommend the coated strings from D'Adarrio b/c they are made here in the USA.

I play kind of hard I guess.

I do a lot of finger picking, and it's just a habit, I play hard.

I do use the Elixir Lights though.

Elixir Polyweb if you can still find them, otherwise the Nanoweb work better than any other string I've tried...

I've been using elixer phosphor bronze.

Are the coated strings more durable? I really hate buying new strings and I don't play very often.

I did a count from these 4 packs. This is from about the last 6 months; there are 13 missing strings. I've probably bought a single string or two as well.

So, not every week, but yea, I pop way too many

I very seldom ever break a string unless they were old to begin with or I'm fricking around with different tunings.

A buddy that I jam with regularly is like you. I don't know if I've ever seen him make it through a whole show without having to change a string out

I pop quite a few, but always due to alternate turnings.

I love elixirs. Unlike most strings I find the sounds gets better right before they are done.
