I got the call, but couldn't get my little sister to go with me. Didn't want to stay in a shitty place, so I couldn't justify spending $1300 + airfare + booze for a week hanging out by myself

I go to pretty much every texas country show at the Varsity. There's been a lot of good shows come through the past three years.

how is it? I couldn't swing it this year due to personal stuff, but I absolutely want to make it next year. Any do's/don'ts when booking?

I find the reason that genre doesn't catch on here in Louisiana is b/c of us having our own sub genre of cajun/zydeco/swamp pop circuit down here. I go to damn near all the TX country shows that come through the varsity and south LA and the interest just isn't what it is elsewhere. I try to invite friends to these shows but if they don't listen to them regularly, they do care much to go. They don't know what they're missing

I was on the waiting list for 3 years then had an opportunity to go with a group. I pre-registered the first day. Same thing this year, pre-register as soon as you can for the following year, if guarantees a reservation for up to 8 people or get in with someone else's group.

Fyi, Monday, I had to wait in line for 2 hours to pre-register for 2017, but it's annual event that I will not miss.

I signed up for a spot almost two weeks after tickets went on sale, and I still got a call a few weeks later. My choices were either shitty places away from everything, or the expensive places. IIRC, they only had four two-person rooms available in the city. Gotta be willing to take what's available

Athens, GA has become a nice spot for Red Dirt music in the past couple of years. Before I moved to Nashville, I was able to see Randy Rogers, Josh Abbott, Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, and Granger Smith.

Once I moved to Nashville, Ive seen Josh Abbott, Wade Bowen, JB and The Moonshine Band, Aaron Watson, and Granger Smith.

Casey Donahue, William Clark Green, Roger Creager, Cody Johnson, and Pat Green have alluded me thus far.

And here I thought I still had my anonymity

Anyone seen Whiskey Myers live? I'm making an impromptu trip to Dallas this weekend and they're playing at Billy Bob's Saturday night.
