At least top 10 for me

Off the chart great guitarist. Could play anything. He was the heart and soul of Chicago. The band was never the same after his death. Also, one of the most underrated vocalist ever. Can't miss that voice.

His band claimed Jimi Hendrix called him great. I seriously doubt this ever happened.

I absolutely love him. He was the heart of the band and didn't like the direction the band was headed.

Not as popular as some Chicago albums, but VIII is their last 'rock' album and Kath is all over it.

Do yourself a favor check this out. The whole concert is good but here is 25 or ^ to 4. Tanglewood 1970

Early 70's, he ranked as one of the best!!

It is documented that Jimi praised Terry!!

According to the story, and multiple interviews dating back to Chicago's earliest days (coinciding with Hendrix's short career), Jimi thought more of him than just "great". He said when speaking to some members of Chicago that their horn section was like "one set of lungs" and their guitarist was "better than me".

Everyone always cites the guitar solo from "25 or 6 to 4", and it is deserving of all praise. But check out his short solo live in "Make Me Smile" from 1970. Starts around the 2:30 mark.

I always enjoyed his playing. I personally prefer a cleaner style that doesn't seem to flirt with a loss of control at some point in the solo. Still, a killer guitarist and an amazing vocalist.

The documentary that Kath's daughter has been working on for years finally comes out this week. It's called 'Chicago - The Terry Kath Experience' and it comes on Tuesday on AXS at 9 CST I believe. She was only two when he died so it was a way for her to connect with him.

Apparently Cetera agreed to be interviewed for this. He has staunchly refused to be interviewed for either the Chicago documentary released this year or the old VH1 Behind The Music in the 90's. Guess he respects Kath enough to do so.

This was a well done documentary although a few times it felt like it was more about the daughter than Terry. It had some great older footage and interviews with former band mates. A couple of “who cut the onions” moments too. I wish there would have been more clips of Kath talking. He really was the heart and soul of Chicago.

I thought the same thing. I guess since many of those clips were from Kath's home movies that his daughter found, Kath would have been the one filming. Thus, not a lot of him speaking.

Overall a good watch.

Started watching this earlier this evening. Good stuff.

On a related note, consider my mind blown when I found out that Kath's widow married Jack Bauer at some point.

You can tell in the Kath doc and the Chicago doc that Terry's death still affects Lee Loughnane deeply

Yeah, he can't even speak on the subject without his eyes immediately welling up.
