Anyone know what Sturgill's old guitar player Laur Joamets is up to these days? That guy is a hoss.

One of the best live guitarists I've ever seen.

No hate to Sturgill, but he really needs to replace that guy with someone equally as good. I think having a badass guitar player was a big part of Sturgill's success, especially with his live shows.

This. EVERY country artist needs that guy. Nashville has to be full of great guitar players who can't sing for shite. Being a great singer songwriter who can play too is gravy. Sing and wail away on acoustic. What's wrong with that.

Honest question. Is Sturgill known to be an arse or something? Many talented people are.

He isn't an arse. He just wants to make each record sound distinctly different. That is difficult to achieve playing with the same people over and over. He signed with Atlantic just to get Brad Walker (LSU boy) and the horn section paid...dearly. Now they have some money, a Grammy, a world tour and the experience that goes with it, and artistic freedom to draw upon. Not sure exactly why Laur bolted, but I don't get the vibe it was rooted in conflict. Some people just have to try new things. Maybe he wanted to prove his talents weren't only because of the guy he played for.

Btw, Sturgill rippin' a Telecaster with four on the floor sounds damn good.

Sturgill is a hell of a player himself but LJ was on another level. Loved his ability to make his guitar sound like a pedal steel
