I can separate the two. I guess some people can’t.
Death, taxes, and artist being liberal. It is what it is and doesn’t really bother me as long as they keep it off stage. For the most part, artist/bands I see don’t go on political rants at shows I attend.

Anytime an artist of that level says something political, it’s posted on just about every major music news site as well. Are people not supposed to check those just for daily music news? It’s not as unavoidable as people think.
They can also ignore his social media commentary on politics at the same time

and in Isbell’s case, his crazy arse wife).
She may be crazy but she’s a fine looking bitch.

I think there is a lot of truth in that statement. He’s exceeded his capacity to view things clearly. He lacks intellectual maturity.
Edit: To other’s points, Isbell’s Southeastern & Something More Than Free as well as Sturgill’s Metamodern are historical works of American art IMO.
Not ironically, it’s been downhill for both since then. There may be a correlation there.

Man... this board really turned on Sturgill.
I saw him during the Metamodern tour at a small, packed bar in my town. He talked shite about having to be here and couldn’t wait to get back to NYC. I stopped listening to him after that. I posted about it on this board sometime after and got shouted down.
His true colors have come shining through to everyone else it appears. Glad to see others are turning the condescending a-hole off.

Agreed.
Odd how that happened to both of them.
Drive-By Truckers have pulled up their southeastern roots and moved to Oregon (at least Patterson Hood has). They’ve effectively gone down the same path.

Yep. There is a correlation, crazy enough, with what started in 2014 with the GOP taking Congress and then the 2016 election of Trump in all of this. Those events are so offensive to Leftists (not unlike Obama being elected in 2008 to Righties), that they are consumed with irrational vitriol.
This consumption has really harmed the careers of two guys I really, really liked (and liked with full knowledge they were left wing the whole time). Isbell, in particular, has forced his music so much through the filter of wokeness that his music seems contrived and cheap now.

I don’t believe Hank would have done it that way.
