In college, everyone had their singles CD... everyone...

They just played here last around Thanksgiving last year.. at The Vic...

Exactly. You never thought that was odd?

I thought it funny/odd that no one had one of their proper records... I figured most bought it mainly for tempted and realized they had other good songs... though no one ventured to buy their other records, back then...

Later in life I have come across some old school, die hard fans who have all their proper records..

But, I also feel that was the era of the greatest hits CD comps and I know tons of people whose CD collections were filled with those.. by and large its the same ones everyone had... I've always hated those, though I had a couple..

Squeeze opened for Elvis Costello at the Warehouse in NOLA. Glen Tilbrook, in addition to being a good songwriter and singer, is a very good guitarist. BTW, didn’t enjoy E.C. as much as I’d hoped- loudest show by far I ever went to.

I did. Like Mountain Tiger, I first heard them when we were in Canada, ‘79-‘80, for me. I don’t have an all time favorite band, but they would be top 3 for sure if I were to make a list.

They were pretty popular among the crowd I was with while at LSU. Our pledge leader was a record spinner at Murphy’s and when he would play Goodbye Girl, it was time to stumble out.

The blend of their storytelling lyrics and sound put the hook in me.

Edited- realized the links I posted were all the same fricking song, sorry.

Don't recall anything that pop sounding ever being on KLSU. '85-'92.

I know it doesnt fit by todays standard but Squeeze got lumped in the "alternative" category.

So underated. Smart, catchy tunes. No one sounds like them, before or after

Like many I got introduced to them by "Tempted" and had the Singles album first. But East Side Story and Argy Bargy soon became two of my favorite albums in the 80's. I've seen them in concert several times between that time and now.

An interesting album is "Spot the Difference"--a sort of greatest hits album re-recorded in 2010 as closely as possible to the originals as they did not own the copyrights from the earlier recordings.

Wow. Was unaware of that copyright tidbit.

Never saw them live. I was at school in northern San Diego county in ‘84- ‘85. They were playing at the Hollywood Bowl & I couldn’t get any takers. Would have liked to have seen them with Elvis Costello & The Attractions. My favorites from that era.

First song and video I heard from them was "Hits Of The Year" - still love that song.

Me too.

I think Singles, REM's murmur, and the Violent Femmes were handed out at freshman orientation.
