Glad you have moved from the emo stuff. The newer music is so good.

Thanks......Once we start recording, I'll make sure to come back to this thread and post the stuff with the better quality overall sound.
The songs we posted everything is kinda just mashed together since we had no way of mixing it after recording

OK. i just recorded the intro to Battery by metallica. recording sucks and i put down 8 layers of acoustics so it took hours to get them all synced up. i promise that all the acoustics are mine, and i only faded the real version in when the electrics start. hopefully the electrics go a good bit easier.

I was almost hoping you'd pick something well known (and easy) like One or Sandman

I'll see what I can do with these.

feel pretty good about the software i have. im going to start putting orion together. it only has a couple of small solos, but none of them are too hard. ill keep uploading my progress as i go along.

Aww lame. I didn't check that. I set the music to some BBC Nature footage of bears and cheetahs.

What are you using for recording software?

I pirated Cakewalk Sonar 8 for my newest PC build and have been very pleased with its power and ease of interface. That said, most studio production software is not the easiest to learn so it takes a little getting used to. The torrent I dl'd works great so if you want the link let me know

And I use Reason w/a bunch of add-ons for MIDI track recording with my MAudio Axiom keyboard...also pirated of course

i had to buy an interface of some sort, and the presonus had 2 inputs with xlr and 1/4 connections. basically it was the best interface for under 200... that came with the recording software. i waited around and studio one had a free upgrade code that came out for SO2. So if you had any version of SO, you could upgrade for free. Bought the interface and software for under 200 and ended up getting SO2. im happy with it. my only gripe is that there is some latency with the playback, but not for the recording. everything i record sounds like it is coming in early. consistently enough that i can just shift the track over a 64th and it lines up.

i have pod farm for guitar tracking, but with my amp and effects, i just DI out the amp and use that sound.

i dont want to sound like i know what im doing, i have to youtube, or google an answer to a problem about every fifteen minutes.

what sold me on studioone is that they have no restrictions on third party software. very open.

Sounds legit...what model is that Presonus unit? I've been looking at getting a hardware interface as my USB condenser lacks in several ways.

If you're having latency issues I'd suggest checking out the buffer settings with the playback queue and buffer size. I'm not familiar with SO2 so not sure where those settings are, but it should be under the audio options in preferences or option settings. Good to hear about not being locked into proprietary software...rustles my jimmies forsure.

audiobox22vsl

there are fancier ones, but you can use this one without studioone, or studioone with a different interface.

Good stuff. Love that intro. If one thing I miss about the old metallica is layers and layers of guitars.
