Pretentious Tool fan here who is also a fan of Corey and an original Slipknot fan... This album is solid.

Apparently, they are more respected than I thought. I always thought they were seen as kind of a joke.
Their debut was one of the heaviest albums I’ve ever heard top to bottom. Iowa took that to another level. Volume 3 was very good but took a step back in heaviness. All hope is gone was where I kind of “grew out” of the band. Not that it was a bad album, I listened to it for a couple years but didn’t keep up after that. Started listening again on this album and I can say that “Solway Firth” is the best song I’ve ever heard them release. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this album. I think a lot of people wanted to write them off as a gimmick because of how popular they became and that’s sort of the “Nickelback” effect. Corey Taylor is probably my favorite vocalist right now. His lyrics aren’t bad at all either

I remember like it was yesterday hearing their debut at a Hot Topic in 99 when you could listen with the headphones.
I just stood there in disbelief and bought the album on the spot not knowing one thing about them. First time I’d ever done that.

I listened to it on headphones at Hastings, when he screamed "Here comes the pain!", I thought my head was going to fricking explode. To this day (sic) is still my favorite Slipknot song.

Not a huge Slipknot fan, but you guys who are going to the shows are in for a treat if you've never seen Gojira or Behemoth. Amazing live. Can't wait to see them again.

A lot of people don’t know this but Slipknot are huge MAGA baws, hence the album title, “We Are Not Your Kind”, it’s a nod to Trump.

Ummm I don't think so. Corey Taylor is very outspoken against Trump.

Like I said I’m not a metal guy and apparently I am wrong. I never really thought of them as a joke, I just assumed that’s how they were perceived, at least by music critics. I guess because of the masks. Again, I appear to be wrong. I’ll leave this thread as to not derail it any further.

I like Slipknot and I'd definitely say this album is their best since Iowa.
I agree with this statement

The tour is underway now. Just 2 weeks until my show in Atlanta. Figured this deserved a bump since people were asking about Gojira.
Gojira will put on the best show of the night, music-wise anyway. Slipknot will have the best production though, obviously.
