lol mine's Norwegian red pine. Its 13X22.5 and I dont even know if I will use the top row. I may get some metal letters and screw them in, writing something. I can probably get away with 7 to 8 without the top. (ISP Decimator II, Maxon ST9 Pro+, Fortin ZUUL, Abominable Hellmouth, BOSS HM2, Correct Sound Custom Black Sunn, and a few others

Hadn't bought a new guitar since 2011 and bought two new ones in 2020. Currently shopping for a third and the budget has grown quite a bit.
Didn't even know about Reverb until a few months ago and that place is like crack. Now I debate daily whether or not I want to pull the trigger on a used guitar from Reverb or go full custom shop when the guitar won't arrive for another year.

Good lord that’s terrible. 2020 is not the year to discover Reverb. Lol

I haven't bought a new guitar since the 90s and now I have the ITCH. I think I started this thread for people to tell me it's ok to do it.

Mine has exploded. I know what I want but it seems a little ridiculous right now. I've never spent more than a grand on a guitar. Although I did get an American P-bass a few years ago.

Sign up with them so you can see the price trends. Almost everything used has gone through the roof so I'm looking at new builds.

I've been researching this stuff as much as I can. Would certainly like to know if anyone here has had a good experience with the Gibson Custom Shop. I'm looking at other "boutique" builders also. I don't mind the effort and time looking at this though.

Even being shut down a couple months due to my shattered heel and subsequent foot surgery, we had our best year ever last year. We actually diverted $$ into the Shack's infrastructure at the last minute to avoid unexpectedly handing it to the IRS. Unbelievable. Many of you reading this contributed to our successes, and my wife and I thank, appreciate and cherish you so much for it.
Easily 75 percent of the guys who walk into the Shack are not pros, they are enthusiasts like most of you and me and what I'd call "passionate hobbyists." Hobbyists, whether they are into guitars, or their car, or guns and hunting, or coin collections, whatever, use disposable income to fund their passions. Hobbyists simply had fewer disposable income options in 2020 - no vacations, no weekend on the town, no nightlife, no movies, even eating out was a pain. Which meant more disposable income to divert into hobbies and passions that are closer to home and/or complimentary to quarantine conditions.
Other sectors saw boons ... get a quote and an estimated turn time on a new swimming pool, or an outdoor deck, or add a cover or an outdoor kitchen to an existing patio. Those contractors who specialize in home improvements and amenities were and remain slammed as well.

On a GAS related note ... someone mentioned custom guitars. I am meeting in two months with one of my under-the-radar vendors to hand-pick custom bolt-on bodies (strat, tele, P- and J- bass, offsets).
The last time I met with my guy Larry, my wife and I handpicked four bodies from probably 200 in Larry's premium stash. Here is what that pick generated. I kept the "desert sand" contoured solid alder for myself. The three Thinlines (Gretsch orange over ash, oil over lacewood, aquamarine burst over spalted maple) were all built for clients to their specs for color, hardware, electronics, etc.
If you are interested in making something like this happen in 2021, e-mail me at info AT thefretshack DOT com so we can get you on my upcoming shopping list.

I've been looking into Kiesel and Mayones. Big difference in price and options there.
If anybody wants to kill some time and grow their GAS, go on Mayones online guitar builder and have some fun. They make some amazing stuff.
