Lukas Nelson - Forget about Georgia
It’s a sad song in its own right. However, it resonates further if your consider the context. The singer often played with his father, Willie Nelson. And frequently their sets included Georgia on My Mind which always reminded him of this woman, named Georgia...until he wrote a song to close that chapter

He's putting out some really good music right now.
Another guy that I started listening to recently, who has great original stuff, but really does a hell of a job of covering old country stuff is Charley Crockett.

He put out an album of mostly originals last year called The Valley, which is damn good.
