Seen 'em three times, including Atlanta last summer. Always a good show, though by now it's 20 musicians up there.
Liked the little joke Mick told about the crowd vote for the song they played.

1964 - Brian Jones, beside him James Phelbe (roommate in "squalid flat" in 102 Edith Grove, Chelsea, London). Behind Brian is Dawn Molloy - his girl-friend and unknown makeup artist. Plus little poodle Pip.

interview from Fabulous magazine about Brian Jones and Bill Wyman on Ready Steady Go:
"‘Hi Vicki’—a mop of pale hair with a guitar in its hand and a beautiful deep vented sports jacket ambles by, disguised as Brian Jones. ‘When are we on?’
‘You’re doing the Amateur Disc Jockey spot with Bill,’ I tell him. ‘What about choosing a record?’
Brian chews his thumb for a few minutes. ‘I know a knockout. Rag Doll by The Four Seasons. It was No. 1 in America when we were there. Or, what about The Beach Boys? We met them over there! All went to a party—wow! I hope they come over.’ He chews his thumb again. ‘Did we tell you Phil Spector came to our recording session in Chicago? You know Ronnie. The Ronettes’ head singer? Well, Phil’s recorded her solo and she’s got her own record out. Calls herself Veronica.’
We ramble on. ‘Could have the Ronettes new record? Good sound. Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry dropped in to see us. Nobody but us took any notice of them. We were knocked out.’
The director calls the boys for a run through. They start—all peering into the two monitors in front of them and pulling insane faces every time they are on close-up.
‘You look luvverly, dear,’ says Bill to Brian. He’s completely submerged in hair, don’t know how he knows it’s him!” ;D

quote:
"I picked him up with his girlfriend, Suki Potier, and noticed that yet again Brian had become involved with a woman who was the mirror image of himself. Women seemed compelled to look like Brian; it was as though they were worried that he was more beautiful than they. They´d all cut their hair into long fringes, like his, and they would wear Moroccan clothes borrowed from his wardrobe. Brian had once come out with some garbled theory to me about how he believed most beautiful women were narcissistic and they dug making love to him because it was as close as they could get to making love to themselves. The theory had sounded faintly ludicrous, but I had been unable to deny the extraordinary sway Brian held over women. He once told me he had slept with sixty in a particularly energetic month, and I´m certain he was telling the truth."
- Tony Sanchez mentioning Brian Jones in his book, Up and down with the Rolling Stones

That's a pretty interesting book.

May 1963. Not all that scruffy.
