Why do y’all still look at Rolling Stones lists lol

They do this every year to anger the 10 boomers that still subscribe. “Best rock ________ of all time” and they put a bunch of rappers and Kurt cobain at the top

Otis Redding and Freaking Beyonce make this list a joke. OK, Beyonce makes it a joke...Otis is just a dumb pick.
Add Amy Winehouse for Beyonce and pretty much anyone else for Otis....Van Morrison? Sinatra?

No Bing Crosby?

His voice helped Americans get through world war two.

Has the biggest single of all time at 50 million sold.

How would these singers measure up against elite opera singers?

Roy was a classical trained opera singer who would embarass Cobain.

Elvis admitted his vocals were inferior to Orbison.

Yeah, Freddie Mercury and Steve Perry should 100% be on this list.

The idea that Beyonce, Carey or Cooke would be ahead of them is ludicrous.

One of these you've selected is not like the other. I can see some folks having Cooke very high. That's merit based. While Carey has a great voice, for sure, she never sang anything important.

The list is all over the place and the gymnastics are obvious. The top 10 is so transparently exclusionary as to defy logic.

You cited Lennon and McCartney. While I think Maca was a way better singer (and the most successful pop songwriter of all time that will ever be, frankly), the combination resulted in literally 10s millions of kids in the U.S. and U.K. (and elsewhere) picking up a guitar/microphone and try to do that from the mid-60s to this very day.

That can be said for virtually none of the other folks on that list not named Elvis Presley.

Beyoncé in the top ten is ridiculous. She's not my cup of tea but I won't argue that she's a great entertainer and a star. But she isn't a great singer by any measure. Good, sure, great, not a chance.

And she also writes very little music or lyrics.

Haven't seen the rest of the list, I'm assuming Freddie Mercury at least made the top 20 but

There's obviously a mix of trolling to get people riled up and legitimate artists on this list (I personally prefer Otis to Sam but both are def. Top 10).. but Freddie should be in the Top 10 if not Top 5 for the Live Aid performance alone and I'm not a crazy huge Queen fan but it's insane to ignore.

I doubt Rolling Stone knows that these two even exist.

I mean, even Beatles haters almost have to just objectively agree on their titanic statue in those 4 areas.

In what world did Mariah Carey have more "originality" than the Beatles? And please, tell me more about the "breadth" of Carey's catalogue. Lennon and McCartney basically span genres (folk, pop, rock, metal, modern art, country, blues, etc.)

All you would have to do is list who on this list did Beatles covers.

Bealtes covered others before they were big. You never saw Maca, George or John covering contemporary artists.
