Reducing amp noise?

I rearranged some music equipment and now I am getting more noise from my amp.
There is no noise when it is not plugged in. It all goes away when I touch the strings?
The room is an addition, so I don't know about the ground. I have turned off the ceiling fan and a box fan in the room. I disconnected all floor effects and went in directly.
Thoughts? Trouble shooting ideas?

What's different in the room you're in now? Florescent lights? Presence of a computer monitor or another potentially problem electric component? Your amp is now sharing ground with new things.
You might try rotating your amp and see if the issue intensifies or goes away if the amp is facing a certain direction. Not that it will fix any issues, but it will quiet things down.
That's how you record with stock strats, teles, P-90s ... strap the guitar on and rotate yourself until the 60-cycle hum disappears.

Thanks. I reworked the way the power supply was arranged and a lot of it went away. I'll keep tinkering piece by piece until I get it set up right.

Reminds me of that spinal tap scene

Dimmer switches for lighting will cause noise.

Yep... I have to plug in on one side of the room, a closed in carport, because the other side runs a ceiling fan and dimmer switches.
But thanks.
I reconfigured the power, put floor effects on a second supply, and moved the amp further back. It is playable now... not perfect, but so much better than at first.
