Country music has sucked since about 95. I'm glad everyone else is finally realizing it.
I agree with most of the sentiment. If you are so damn country, why do you have to spend the whole damn song telling everyone how country you are?
I don't think Hank Williams, Kenny Rogers or Randy Travis ever had to convince anyone of their "countryness".

Ronnie Dunn is doing his best to keep it real. This sounds as good as something that was being put out in the early to mid 90's
From his solo album last year:
Dunn - Cost Of Livin' live at Grand Ole Opry
He broke with Arista Records a couple of months ago, I'm interested in seeing what he's going to put out in the future.

Hell, Lionel Ritchie is more country than most stuff coming out of Nashville.

That shite makes my speakers go boom boom FWIW

For me, some of it is lyrics, but most is just the sound of the music. Hank Jr. sang songs like Country State of Mind,A Country Boy Can Survive, Dixie on My Mind, etc. but it didn't sound nowhere near as douchey as this new garbage.

Pat green sucks too
It's a shame, really. Pat was one of the guys leading the way for Texas musicians for years. He sold a hell of a lot of albums by playing Texas. I guess I understand that he was ready to "grow up" and stop playing college beer drinking music, but he went so far the other way that it was just an entirely different product that left his long time fans alienated.

You are right. Hank still "sounded" country. I've been telling my daughter for years that the only difference between country and pop is a steel guitar thrown in and a fake twang in the voice.

Here's some more from Dunn's solo album:
Last Love I'm Tryin'
Your Kind Of Love
I Just Get Lonely
Love Owes Me One
I Can't Help Myself

Both lack soul in a major way, for the most part.

Old Bird Dog
This is themed like lots of the new stuff, but it doesn't sound all gay and fake. He doesn't sound like he's trying too hard. I can live with that and I really like this song.

Corn Star Not catchy, shitty lyrics, terrible play on words. None of those make a good country song IMO
I don't listen to Country a lot, but this pun on words shite has got to end.

TRUCK YEAAAAAAAA
I thought of this song the minute I saw the thread.

Pretty much. Hell, Taylor Swift crashed a Kennedy wedding the other day. What "real" country star would give two fricks about the Kennedy's, let alone DATE one! That is the antithesis of country music.

I think that it has to do with yea the lyrics, but mainly just the feel. None of these songs on the radio have country feel at all. NONE. that and the 'hillbilly proud' lyrics get on my nerves. king george baby

Kinda depends on what your definition of country is. I don't want country to turn back the clock all the way to the 50 and 60's..just to the late 80's - early to mid 90's.
This is what I'm talking about:
Garth Brooks - Cold Shoulder
That's what I grew up on
