If they were playing on the same night and you had tickets but could only go to one show...who ya got? Remember, 1991...not now.

They could only "Breaking the Girl" and then flip off the crowd and I'd still see them.

Seeing Three Days live was worth the price of admission for me when I saw them with NIN a few years back. Janes by a mile for me.

I have to say Jane's. It's very even. Two electric frontmen. Two incredible but different bassists. John>Dave any day of the week. However, IMO Steve P>>>>>Chad.

The show is what separates them. RHCP would likley just do a show with no backdrop...hell an outdoor, middle of nowhere is their thing. Meanwhile, Jane's would have an amazing backdrop as they have had at both of their concerts I attended.

I have never seen RHCP. I would love to. I gotta go with jane's though. They always open up with UP the Beach and it just sets the tone. Jesus, are they good. I didn't see them in '91, but they looked awesome.

Jane's, but not by much.

I was never a Jane's Addiction fan so that is why this isn't a hard decision at all for me.

I'm leaning toward Jane's Addiction... Barely. For the soul reason that I'm a bit more drawn to their "beachy" and ethereal grooves included in their brand of punk inspired rock. That's not to say I don't like the funk-rock of classic RHCP though.

The bigger question is why did you include RHCP's ubiquitous hits on the playlist, but leave "Jane Says" and "Been Caught Stealing" off of the Jane's Addiction playlist?

My bad on 2 of those. Tahitian Moon was not created until 1996 and it was Porno For Pyros who did that. YOu are right about the other two. Edit coming up.

Edited now. I cannot believe I left both of them off. Just a lazy brain today.

OK - The inner music geek is coming out and I had to look up set lists from 1991.

Jane's Addiction

Up The Beach
Whores
1%
Standing In The Shower...Thinking
Ain't No Right
Three Days
Been Caught Stealing
Had A Dad
Then She Did
Mountain Song
Stop!
Of Course
Ocean Size
Jane Says

*They also headlined Lollapalooza in '91 and rarely played Jane Says during that tour for some reason.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Love Trilogy
Organic Anti-Beat Box Band
Bullet Proof
(George Clinton cover)
Suck My Kiss
Funky Crime
Backwoods
Give It Away
Nobody Weird Like Me
If You Have to Ask
Stone Cold Bush
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Magic Johnson
Me & My Friends
I Could Have Lied
Fopp / Party on Your Pussy / Red Hot Mama
Higher Ground
(Stevie Wonder cover)
Encore:
Yertle Trilogy
Crosstown Traffic

I'm still undecided now. 1991 me probably would have picked Jane's.
