Philip H Anselmo(Pantera) Interview Loyola University

From 2009. I was you-tubing Pantera videos, and came across this one. I've never listened to Pantera too much, and I really didn't know who Anselmo was before tonight, but this is the is on of the most honest, powerful interviews I've ever listened to. I could listen to him talk for hours. If you haven't seen it, and have an hour to listen to a raw, uncut, wise introspective on addiction, loathing, and self-forgiveness, check this out. You'll find it worth it.

I made it 16 minutes and gave up on that shite Phil is not someone I want to get life lessons from. My time is better spent listing to Pantera or Down than listing to him dribble on about his past.

Well 16 minutes is something
Its not so much "life lessons," more-so an in-depth, real look at the cycle of events that an addict experiences. Its very relevant and relatable if you or someone you know or care about has struggled with addiction.

My wife thinks I have an addiction with tigerdroppings Maybe I can have her show up at Phil's Halloween party to discuss my issues.

Because I'm not versed in thrash metal, you think that I only listen to top 40 hits? Umm okay? I enjoy exploring a wide range of different genres, and whether I delved into something when I was 15, or 25, it still has meaning to me. Sounds like you are the one that possesses a myopic outlook on music, and people.
Anyway, did you watch the video? Thoughts? Opinions?

One of the most insincere douches that ever walked the planet. Just not a good guy at any level.

oh, for real? He seemed extremely sincere in that interview, but I admittedly don't know much about him other than he was in Pantera, and that he had a gnarly heroine addiction.

I think he wears his heart on his sleeve and says what he thinks. He offends many folks, but he comes across as a genuine honest guy to me. I may not agree with a lot of what he says, but if he is anything, it's he is sincere. The Loyola video is just him sharing his experiences with extreme pain, addiction to painkillers and heroin and how he chose to change and heal himself. I thought he was very honest and wanted to help others struggling with similar circumstances.
BTW he has sung some of the best heavy-arse songs w/ Down and Pantera. I saw him @ 16 sing for Razor White when they opened for Zebra...lol Spandex and all.

He is sincere and honest, and doesn't give a frick. That's what people like about him. I watched this video a few years ago when it first came out. The interviewer girl seemed a little scared. I doubt many people in the audience knew who he was either.

Phil is a great guy, has helped me out a lot.
If you knew Phil, and didn't just know of him..youd have a different opinion. Unless you're just a complete shithead.

Pantera wasn't thrash.
Post-thrash, groove-metal, whatever.

He is a great interview when he's somewhat sober. Trunk had him on about a week ago to explain the "white power" and racist accusations bits. Phil spoke with humility and he tried very hard to prove his upbringing was sparked with much, much diversity.
Trunk usually asks a question and adds a tidbit about every 30 seconds. Man...he just let Anselmo off the leash and allowed him to speak uninterrupted for minutes at a time. This interview as on Trunk's show on Volume (Siriusxm).

I've met his parents a few times and they were really nice, so I wish him well.

Friends of mine are friends with his family. His sister and knew his brother in high school before Katrina. Good friend met him at his sister's wedding a few years ago. Won't go into details, but it was some next level a-hole type shite. Also, supposedly double fisting newcastles.
