McCartney has some great songs that he made post beatles and some of my favorite Beatles songs are by him. You are embarrassing yourself.

Very few realize that some of the most well Known and IMO best songs by the Beatles were written solely by McCartney.

Just messin' with ya, EA6B! You're right in that the "average" fan probably doesn't know most of the Beatles stuff was primarily one writer, but I think the stuff is pretty well split up. Great link, by the way.

I remember an interview with John Lennon about sometimes he'd walk into a place and when they'd notice him they'd start playing "Hey Jude" or "Let It Be".

It would probably be more accurate to say that without McCartney, there would be no Lennon. McCartney was certainly a more accomplished musician than Lennon. As far as songwriting goes, that is obviously subjective. McCartney played bass, rhythm, lead, and drums on different songs that they recorded. Add that to the catalog of songs he's responsible for and it's hard to say that he's overrated. You can dislike his stuff and still recognize his abilities as a musician.

sucks to get into who was more important. They we so great together. The Beatles were active for roughly 8 years? And 46 years after the breakup people are still talking about them. They WERE that good.

Ya and Harrison is also somewhat forgotten by a lot of the average fan in relation to Lennon and McCartney IMO. just amazing talent across the board.

They were that good! The musicianship of each member is talked about often, but their talent as vocalist especially performing live is not really appreciated. At the time of their Shea Stadium concert sound systems to adequately reproduce live music at that large of a venue did not exist, they were singing through a series of small club systems, there were no on stage monitors for them to hear themselves yet their harmonies were perfect.

Let me guess. You only like him because MSM tells you like him. And how amazing his so called music is. Without Lennon and Harrison there would be no McCarthy.

McCartney was the principle songwriter for the Beatles during the last few albums...arguably the band's best work of their career.
