Overall, what’s the board’s consensus on Pat Green? He was really big 20ish or so years ago. I haven’t heard anything from him / about him in a long time.

Wave on Wave was a good song

going to see him in Kansas City in May

I saw him get hit in the head with a full beer can and almost get knocked unconscious during a post race performance at Michigan Speedway about 15 years ago which was pretty amusing.

He sold out and didn’t reap the rewards by gaining fame.

Every time I'm on I35, I sing Southbound 35.....every.single.time. Live at Billy Bob's is a GREAT album. He did sell out a bit and although I've never gotten to see him live, I hear he is drunk (at least used to be).

Brings back good memories of my LSU days. For some reason all the sorority broads loved it. I'm not much of a country fan but it's one I will blast and sing along with.

Songs didn't hit the same after the first few albums. Went from red dirt-ish Texas country to more radio, commercial style that were even less catchy.

His older stuff is a staple on a few of my playlists but the last time I saw him at Hogs for the Cause I was disappointed. Ol boy was entirely too drunk. Think that was back in 2014.

Old PG is hard to beat. Put me on the Guadalupe with some cold beer and old Pat Green and I’ll be just fine.
Songs about Texas
Carry On
Take Me out to a Dancehall
Southbound 35
George’s Bar
He’s still fun I just don’t listen to the newer stuff

I listened to him on some podcast I think he’s pretty rich bruh
Idk the only good thing about fame would be the ability to bang whoever. I’d rather be rich and not famous

He’s doing fine. He’s been playing clubs since he was 20. He lives in a massive home outside Ft Worth
He was on a pod a few years back and someone asked him about how big he got. He said he made 13m in his biggest year after Wave on Wave tour

Pretty well sums it up. I haven't listened to anything new since Wave on Wave. Went to a show last year, very nostalgic.

agreed. i was in high school and college in the late 90s and early 00s, and Pat Green's first three or four albums were pretty much the soundtrack to those years for me. i have a hopelessly nostalgic love for that era's Texas country scene, and I always will. to me, Three Days and Wave on Wave were POST Pat Green selling out. his last great "pure" album in my mind was Carry On (plus an honorable mention to Songs We Wish We'd Written with Cory). but i liked the "post sellout" stuff too, it just never felt exactly the same once Three Days came out and he had recycled multiple songs.
I saw him play at Billy Bob's a few years ago and I had a blast. I'd go see him tonight if I had the chance. My nostalgia for Pat Green will never die.
(I even had a Pat Green bumper sticker on my Jeep in 1999)

Pat Green and Dave Matthews Band were so big back then. Then in the mid 2000’s you saw a shift to Jack Johnson becoming more popular.

Dave Matthews was hugely popular in my circle of friends, but I never got on that bandwagon. I was always pretty much just a country fan. It is crazy how huge DMB was and then how suddenly he just disappeared from the scene.
Outside of mainstream and classic country, which I listened to as well, my late 90s / early 00s favorites were:
Pat Green
Roger Creager
Robert Earl Keen
Cory Morrow
Charlie Robison
later additions:
Max Stalling (I listen to Max a lot more now actually than I did then - he still puts out solid stuff)
Cross Canadian Ragweed
Reckless Kelly

Love the old stuff. Saw him many times in tx and New Orleans. Anything after and most of wave on wave… not a fan. Here we go, live at Billy bobs and George’s bar are my top 3 in that order.
