While on stage in the middle of the song!

Why is this not been a bigger deal throughout the years??
The guy was in middle of his set and shot down.
Just unbelievable still to this day.

Yet the media focuses on drug heads and one hit wonders like Amy Whinehouse.

This should be one of the tragic rock and stories for all time. Yet hardly anything.......even back then.

It is huge deal in the rock & metal community but is amazing how so many so-called music fans don't even know it happened. It's mind boggling. It also doesn't help that the date Dime was murdered is the same day on the calendar that John Lennon was murdered.

It's a huge deal to anybody who follows metal. I think the fact that it was a small club w/ Damage Plan took away some of the story. If it had happened at a Pantera show in a large venue it would have reached more people.

I remember pulling into work the next morning when I heard the news on the local rock station. I sat there stunned for about fifteen minutes before I could bring myself to go inside. Took about six months before I was comfortable with going to small venue shows again.

Because unlike a suicide or an overdose behind closed doors, its really almost too horrific for regular people to just talk about, or see.

Dime wasn't the only one killed there as well, audience members and ultimately a cop had to shoot a man in the face with shotgun slugs. Kinda like the Station nightclub fire. Look at that tragedy that no one really talks about these days

He was playing a club. This wasn’t Panterra at a 17k seat arena. Security was not the same.

Was the cop who ended it called out there or was he working outside security?

I still believe it was a big deal. Huge to Panterra fans. Let’s face it. They weren’t pop stars. Panterra had broken up. Hence Dime was playing clubs again.

It’s totally wrong but people look at it differently because of the style of music. This was more similar to Chapman killing Lennon than some crazed Reefer and Drug Madness story of a fan who lost his shite.

Any Billy Badass who talk about what he would do in a situation needs to see the clip of the cops face who shot him. He’s being consoled by a guy who looks like he’s killed a guy in his past (maybe Vietnam era). Must be a hell of a thing shooting a man in the face with a slug (mentioned above). No matter how ABSOLUTELY justified.

Cop was an on-duty and responded to the call that a shooting had occurred. Only security there was your typical yellow-shirt club bouncer type.

The cop had just recently finished tactical shotgun training, which stood him in good stead.
Reading about that shooting was where I first heard the term "DRT" (Dead Right There)

The cop James Niggemeyer still is treated for PTSD (from the shooting) to this day.

That whole video is haunting but the cop's face really told you the difference between real life and what you see in the movies. Normal human beings aren't action stars going around blowing people up while cracking jokes.
