Owner of a Lonely Heart

This song has been stuck in my head today, but it's a good thing, because this song is awesome. Everything about this song is great: It's catchy, has an infectious melody, and if you're into 80's style music, this song is one of the best from that era. Yes created an all time classic with this song.

Nevermind with all the bullshite they did before this cheesy god damn song, eh?

Hey, I object to that my friend! This song is anything but cheesy.
Yes did a lot of awesome work before this song, but this song helped them transition into the 80's sound, and it's been a staple of 80's rock best songs ever since.

I absolutely loath that song, but I hate most of the stuff in that style from that era in general, so take it with a grain of salt.

I prefer early Yes, but it's still great 80s pop.

One of, if not the first appearance of the orchestra blast sample, henceforth to be used ad nauseum.
I won't snob on Yes any more than Genesis for their 80's adaptations, some of it was damn good if not genius.

What else could they play besides Roundabout that is short and catchy? I love early YES but not exactly something that is 3:00 minutes and done.

Absolutely, was the band's only no. 1 pop hit, propelled 90125 to no. 5 on the albums charts(hard to achieve in 1984 with Thriller, 1984, Footloose, Can't Slow Down, etc.), features the venerable Jon Anderson on lead vocals, Chris Squire on bass, and produced by Trevor "Video Killed Radio Star" Horn. 80s classic fasho.

Great song but still prefer, Closer to the Edge, Starship Trooper, And You And I, Yours is no Disgrace and Roundabout!!

Horn is a fantastic producer. I like some pop and recognizing his genius - his production on Robbie Williams' "Reality Killed The Video Star" gave Robbie his best album IMO.

On the video that preceded their induction into the R&R Hall of Fame, one of the band was quoted saying something to the effect of the band having the habit of going into the studio with a song, recording it, getting it just right, and then realizing it was 12 minutes long.

Also their best song, IMHO. Squire's bass part (and sound) is phenomenal.

Overall, the best Yes material includes Steve Howe, but I've grown to appreciate the Trevor Rabin albums. "Owner" and the whole 90125 album is a sonic masterpiece.
And truth be told, I'd MUCH rather see Anderson/Rabin/Wakeman than the current Yes lineup with Howe. At least ARW sounds fresh & exciting, while current Yes need to be taken to the back of the barn...

You are spot on. I've seen the most recent concerts of both bands and ARW just blows the new "YES" out of the water. Must more energy, better concert song choices, and Jon was meant to sing those songs.. And Rick....

I haven't seen Yes since 2002, but I'd be willing to see ARW if they came around here again. I like that they're injecting their own personal flavors into the material, and to hell if the songs don't sound like the studio versions...based on what I've seen/heard, it definitely works for them.
Meanwhile in Yes, the tempos have slowed to a crawl, Downes can barely bluff his way through Wakeman & Moraz's songs, and it's pretty much the Steve Howe band performing bland Yes covers. I appreciate that they're tackling some classic albums in their entirety, but at this point it's too little too late...
