Online guitar lessons

I dated a woman who did skype lessons and she loved it. Better instruction than she could find locally and without having to leave the house.

My daughter took in-person lessons for a little over a year that were switched to online due to COVID. She doesn’t like online.

Her instructor is a good dude and I want to support the shop until it opens back up - but if you haven’t started lessons yet, I would just YouTube until you can find a place to do it in person.

Just starting out? I'm self taught until recently, and wish I'd have had someone give me some structure at the beginning. Jumping around youtube is a good way to learn specific songs, but sometimes you just need to ask questions or have someone catch a mistake before it becomes a habit or make sure you learn certain things.

there are plenty of folks who give lessons via skype or zoom. Skype lessons are more productive than I thought they'd be. I've been doing an hour a week with a guy from North Carolina who's teaching me bluegrass lead. No different than sitting in the room with him in person. Very productive and no driving or waiting.

ETA: one aspect of skype lesson is actually pretty cool - he can pull up blank sheet on the screen and fill in the tab or notation for what we're working on so I can follow, change it during the lesson as needed, then email it to me immediately so I can work on it. I print them and keep them in a binder.
