For the actual beginners in this thread, what are you working on?
I have slowed down trying to do songs right now and went to doing some solid practice
Im doing sessions to help speed my chord changes up and doing some helping with strumming.
My biggest issues right now seem to be pretty common. I can do chords, cant change fast. I can strum but I need to work on rhythm and keeping time. I have been using a metronome and that is getting better. I just need more consistency with my strumming. I cant quite get the "soft" sound that I want
What are you guys doing?

I've been working on a "easy" version of Hotel California. Pretty excited when I get a section right and it sounds like the song.

Are you doing the "Marty Music" version? I did a little of that over a few nights. Pretty cool. Like you said, felt good recognizing the sound.

I use quite a few different teachers, including Marty, Andy Guitar, Tony Polecastro, Dave Potts & others, depending on my "mood"
. But I have been watching Lauren Bateman for quite a few songs lately.
This is her version.

yea, that is very similar to Martys version. Its a easy version. I was playing around with that song a little too but I kinda bailed on doing songs for a week or so
Going to work on the basics a little more.
Good luck man

Anyone have a favorite book for guitar theory? Looking to learn the circle of fifths.

When this shite blows over, we need to setup a TD jam session.

Steve Vai recently released a book of theory as applied to the guitar. There are a few pages on the Circle of Fifths.

Bump to see what's been going with everyone.
I've been learning bluegrass flatpicking, running into the "I need to play faster" mentality, but surprisingly to me I'm making a point to not dialing up the speed just yet, and that's really helped my counting and timing overall.
If I push it now, all I do is mess up. I figger speed will come as the phrases, runs, tags, etc., get loaded into my muscle memory.

I've recovered from my arm surgery and have gone back to the beginning. Taking it slow. Once this is over I'm going to setup weekly lessons so I have a structure and a foundation to build on. YouTube is nice but it's all over the place and without structure. I do use Justin Guitar as a way to structure my learning for now.

Still working my way through JustinGuitar beginner course and reading Guitar Scales: 3in1 book by guitar head for a dose of theory and scales work.

Yeah, that's why there are more guitars being sold, by more guitar manufacturers, than ever in history, by a huge margin. Idiot.

Interesting place to troll. Do you have any guitar questions? Everyone here is extremely helpful. You may learn something.
