Don't believe me? Look how many monthly streams Chevelle or Breaking Benjamin have compared to media darlings 21 Pilots.

saw this, and it's factually incorrect.

quick look on spotify and 21 pilots has BILLIONS of plays compared to millions for chevelle and breaking benjamin.

BB:
the diary of jane: 423 million plays
i will not bow: 211 million
waiting on the sky to change: 2 million
dance with the devil: 104 million

Chevelle:
the red: 178 million
send the pain below: 82 million
face to the floor: 57 million
vitamin R: 33 million

21 pilots:
stressed out: 1.7 billion
ride: 1.3 billion
heathens: 1.4 billion
chlorine: 394 million

so by the numbers, they aren't even close to the plays 21 pilots have. I like chevelle. loved their first and 2nd records. point #1 is a really great rock record produced by steve albini (nirvana) but you can't say that they are more popular or more played than 21 pilots.

your point was that there are a lot of people out there that have bad taste in music and are easily influenced by whatever is being pushed as trendy at the time, "no problem".

Since musical taste is an opinion it’s impossible to have terrible taste.
But you obviously think too highly of yourself despite an inability to even understand that.

Lmmfao. No it’s not. If all music were art, then you might have a point.

No they weren't.

They wrote some catchy tunes, put on good shows and sold lots of records.

Not my favorite band, but they didn't suck at all.

Chad is a nice, successful fellow , so it became fashionable to shite on them.

Sevendust is the most blatant post-grunge/nu metal band of all time...

Post grunge, nu metal, all these labels...I mean, all "nu metal" bands were "post grunge".

I am 50... Ive heard the names of those bands you listed in my question about post-grunge, but they weren't for me whenever they came out... I cant say I'm familiar with their music, but I know that sound...

Same. From that list, I know a few names but couldn't tell you one thing about them. I listened to a few NB songs, I did recognize one but I think that was late 90's. That video had 134 million views.

The rockstar song and video is fun. Outside of that its just normal stuff. Not any worse than contemporaries. Nothing really memorable.

Not saying they are Zeppelin or The Who, but they wrote some catchy stuff and got popular.

People love shitting on popular stuff because it makes them look edgy.

Pretty much, but usually nu metal is used to refer to the heavier post-grunge bands (Korn, Slipknot, Disturbed, Drowning Pool) as well as the ones with a lot of rap influences (Limp Bizkit, RATM, Kid Rock, Linken Park).

Well I don't think I was shitting on them, I have never been on that train. Theyre pretty similar to their contemporaries. There's far worse out there for sure.

I think people that care about meaningful music shite on them because of all of the above reasons I mentioned. They made stale macho bro dude commercialized bullshite. But the masses ate it up and they made a lot of money.

You nailed it. People can say that people who hate Metallica, Tool, or any number of talented bands are trying to be "edgy". But to say people who hate Nickelback are just trying to be edgy is laughable.

I mean, it’s not like 70’s and 80’s rock wasn’t full of silly formulaic music for bro’s. Is “Bad Girlfriend” really that much more cringe than “Cat Scratch Fever”?

Hinder takes the fricking cake for that era of post grunge/alt rock bands IMO.

Funny thing about nickelback is they actually made some decent music before they started churning out dumb lyrical songs. Leader of men was not a bad song.

That's an opinion and guess what, it's terrible. That's like saying it's impossible to have bad taste in clothes, movies, or anything else.

I don't think highly of myself. I think highly of the music and musicians that I like to listen to...and think that bands like Nickelback sound like shite.

So DG, which music/musicians do you feel are in good taste, and/or artists of whom you think highly?
