Listening to the Billy Corgan interview on Howard Stern.
Anybody heard the new record yet? Can I get a TD Music Board review?

First, it is a Smashing Pumpkins record, though I know Billy is the only remaining band member. I listened to the leak and it sounds amazing. You can listen to the free streaming here and decide for yourself.
I don't think there is a bad song on the whole album.

It seems like Billy may have finally recognized that his arrogance had overtaken his abilities and brought in help. David Botrill's mixing alone will make it sound fantastic. I still refuse to call this a Smashing Pumpkins album, though.

You do realize the Billy was 90% of the Pumpkins to begin with right? The only thing he didn't do was play the drums. He wrote the songs, arranged the guitar parts and sang. He has said that the Pumpkins are more of a conception than actual people in the band. The Pumpkins play a certain style of music and I think this album sounds like a Pumpkins album no matter what they call the band, so might as well call it the Smashing Pumpkins. I'm sure it doesn't hurt album sales either.

I agree, and Jimmy was the one person in the band that could never be replaced. They downgraded at drummer, but have improved drastically at the opposite guitar from Billy and on base with the current lineup. The drummer they have now is pretty good, but obviously not in Jimmy's league, though who is.

I like the new guy but was always a fan of Iha. He had a pretty unique sound.
Not anywhere close to being as valuable as Chamberlin though.

Nope. I was on the other SP board that no longer exists. It was a smaller community with far less douches than Netphoria.

I wouldn't go that far. I would say the drums played an integral part as in any band. But I would agree that Corgan was the key.

Corgan was/is the main cog but Chamberlin was a large part as well. Siamese Dream just reeks of his style.

He is/was playing with a band called Skysaw. They actually were at the Varsity a year ago with Minus the Bear.
