Recently got a piano and want to jam out to some professor longhair or fats domino kinda piano blues. I took lessons as a kid and play some guitar and bass but it's been a long time since I've played much of anything consistently and a LONG time since I played piano.
Anyway to my question... Anyone got any good resources for learning piano blues, specifically new Orleans style? I'm terrible at reading sheet music, plus I'm not really looking to play any particular song. Mostly looking for some technique cuz mine is bad and some foundational riffs and stuff to base off.

What you're looking for is called "Stride Piano". I don't know of any specific resources, but using that keyword may help you find what you're looking for.

My mom has played her entire life. A few Christmas’s back I gifted her some Professor Longhair sheet music. She is now a huge fan and can play it like Fess and JoJo from WSP. You should dig in to James Booker as well.

Look into Pinetop Perkins for blues piano.

Concentrate on walking bass lines with your left hand. Listen to Fess, Ed Volker, Mac etc.

Check out some Henry Gray.

Look into James Booker. According to Dr John, he was "the best black, gay, one-eyed junkie pianist New Orleans ever produced."
