If Darkness Had A Son? Is this a song about Obama?

Best song I've heard from them in 20 plus years. It is surprisingly really good.

Really good song. Loved the riff in the last 40 seconds.

Good solo too, and I liked the half time Lars mixed in during it.

It’s not Spit Out the Bone but it’s pretty interesting. I will allow this one. Not bad at all.

I've been among the first to shite on nu Metallica in many of these threads, but I'll give credit where credit is due, too. That song single was actually legit.

Good Lord that was good, especially the beginning.

There's nothing wrong with the song, but as usual, the production is atrocious. After the masterful production of the Black Album, and yes, the Load/Re-Load albums, these guys just gave up on trying to make their shite sound good. The material is still good, the performances are good, but sonically, everything they've done starting with St. Anger is GARBAGE. For the wealthiest heavy band in the world, it makes no sense at all. They have unlimited capital when it comes to a recording budget, but this sounds like it was recorded in James' housekeepers basement. Horrible.

Why did they quit working with Bob Rock?

I think the production on this new stuff is great. It sounds very Black Album-esque. Not sure what you're hearing.

I have to agree here. Drums have no big punch and guitars are almost muddy. Bad arse song, but production could have made it way better.

I believe they just decided to not work together because it was a long relationship. I wish they would bring him back.

When you guys post things like this, I’m always amazed at what you’re hearing. Unless there’s something really strange going on, songs either sound lo-fi or hi-fi to me.

Pure silliness. Death Magnetic is great in ever facet.

You’re the guy who basically said Nuno was meh. Can’t discuss music with you.

No, I said EXTREME was meh. Nuno is incredible, but held back by his own band - at least in terms of songwriting. I need more than must pyrotechnics.
