Dirt is a 90s classic but the other two aren't that great.

I disagree. Facelift is great, imo.

See you there!

The people who are yawning this are the same shitdicks who spend time on Youtube comparing Staley and Cobain and think this music is "grunge". These are the same people who think Staley is irreplaceable.

Will is a bad arse! Jerry is still strong. And sean is still beating the shite out of the drums.

AIC is a hybrid of groove metal and plain ole deep purple and Sabbath hard rock. They did not get in the business to be "like Nirvana". They have way more in common with Gruntruck, the Melvins, and Tad than they do with Nirvana or Pearl Jam. Thanks Mainstream music media for lumping them.

And yes, DIRT is by far their most superior record. FACELIFT is bad arse and they play 5 to 6 songs depending from that album on their recent tour. There is not a bad track on DIRT.

I don't dig it. I didn't dig Black Gives Way to Blue, either. Part of it is production - the dynamic compression isn't as bad on this one as the stuff on BGWTB, but I just don't dig the riff on this one.

I'm not averse to trying more songs on the new album, but the sampling I did on BGWTB one was not promising. I don't blame Duvall - I think he's doing the best he can under the circumstances.

(ETA: Just figured out there was an album between BGWTB and this one - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here - never listened to a minute of it.)

Okay, just listened to Hollow - that's not bad.

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is the second best album of their career. New album is pretty good too. I have heard some critics say all the new stuff with Duvall sounds the same and I can't disagree with that. You could mix and match any of the newer songs and put them on any newer album and they wouldn't feel out of place.

Meh. Assuming we're not counting the unplugged album separately, I was really taken in by Jar of Flies - they had the nuance and texture of Pink Floyd. Obviously, I was listening to Dirt and Facelift before that.

All of that was better than what I've heard from The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (which admittedly was just tonight ). But, I did dig Hollow. Not crazy about Voices and Stone.
