I listened to an oldies station on Sunday (KBGO out of Waco, TX) and during a Casey Cason Top 40 countdown from 1975 they started playing this song, which featured a woman crying out:

"Daddy please don't,it wasn't his fault, he MEANS so much to me".

I don't know this song, but it was really cheesy. Does anyone know what it is, and did it actually become popular?

I literally just copied and pasted the lyrics you posted in google and it answered your question. You can do the same.

If it was on the countdown, I imagine it was popular at the time.

One of the worst hit records of all time.

It was incredibly cheesey even by mid-70s standards.
