Thanks for getting Mutemath to play their last show of the year at the Varsity.

When they could have gone to New Orleans and played a bigger venue in their home town...

The Intimate Chelsea's show was the first time they had played BR as mutemath.. Which is just insane to think about in itself..

Haha my friend who's a drummer said he was using those drum brushes to dust the drums before Darren hopped on them.

But anyway, I remember starting this thread when the concert first went online. If there were any doubters about them delivering that went, I'm sure your mind is changed.

It's not just the fact that they are very talented. They are PERFORMERS. They really know how to get the crowd into it. They ran up from the crowd at the beginning. Paul stage dove a few times. He stage dove onto an air mattress, walked out on top of the crowd to sing Equals and other stuff like that. They also blew out confetti 5 different times. It was super sick.

Also being right next to Darren was incredible. I'm a bassist, but I also know talent on another instrument when I see one, and that dude is incredible.

my buddies and I talked about that all night. I'm glad I knew about them from a few years ago. The Chelsea's show has to be one of the best shows I've seen from them. Just being THAT close really makes a difference.

It blew my mind to hear people saying they had never heard of MM, never knew they had a few albums out, this was their first show, etc.

I'm not sure how many times I've seen them. I do know I've been going to their shows since 2006.

I've never seen a band engage a crowd like they did. They were all over the place and did all sorts of things that kept it exciting, in addition to their great music.

It was a legit show. Definitely want to see them many more times. They were already one of my favorite bands before, but now they are probably in that top 2-3 range now. Mind = blown.

Pretty sure the stuff on the ceiling is fire retardant material... I'm sure it looks like crap b/c the venue used to be smoking. (correct me if i'm wrong)

Last nights show kicked serious arse.

Hey guys, the set was always scheduled to start at 10:30pm. They started at 10:40.

The opening band was family of Darren kings who had to drive him back to Tyler, tx for the birth of his baby. So MM let them open the show

People need to relax about the stuff on the ceiling.

I think the main reason they use it is for acoustics. Flat materials will echo sound more and ruin the acoustics in the room. Since it is a music venue I would assume this is why they do it this way. Regardless of it being dirty, as long as it serves a purpose and it isn't on my body, it's fine.

And yea Mutemath is sick.

We were there for the announcement. It didn't make them any better. That will almost certainly be the biggest band of their career. They are apparently the family members that didn't make it into Eisley. Too young, I guess.

Funny now that I think of it. That show had to be the biggest stage I have seen them perform on. So I basically watched it from the big screens but before the show, my homie and me noticed the band sans drummer standing off to the side of the stage by a fence. They looked like they were waiting for someone. We casually walked over and said hey and wished them luck. Got them to sign our Voodoo tickets as a bonus. Spent about 5-7 minutes with them. Really cool guys.
