Music your parents forced on you

For me it was Kenny Rogers - he mustve toured a lot in the 70s, and my parents dragged me to see him no less than 5 times. Why the hell couldnt they get a babysitter. I hated him and still think he is a no talent. (a few catchy songs notwithstanding).
The other big one is Neil Diamond. My mom played his records nonstop and took me to see him several times. I complained every time. Now I actually respect him as a pretty good songwriter, but could never appreciate his music until decades later.

My mom played Streisand constantly.
While I will not deny Babs' talent and tremendous voice, I am not a huge fan of her music.

I can also relate to this. The perfect storm was when "You Dont bring me flowers" came out with her AND Neil Diamond. My mom wore out that single. I can still hear it in my head.

I was forced to listen to contemporary Christian rock. Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman, and a whole lot of 89.1 fm. I got used to it.

Conway Twitty...they only forced me to see him in concert once, thank goodness.
My mom was a HUGE Neil Diamond fan too..she'd play his music turned up loud & sing along to the song. UGH

I remember my dad listening to country music on the radio and hating it... It was 70's-early 80's... there was always the odd song I'd like, but I wanted to hear rock and or roll...

My mom used to play Kenny G a lot. Awful, bordering on child abuse.
My dad always played a lot of blues. Spending my high school years with him made a pretty huge impact on my musical tastes. I'm a blues fan, so him forcing it on me wasn't a bad thing.
