As Styx would say,

you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it.

I liked a couple of older Styx songs but they lost me around '79 with Cornerstone, then it was all downhill from there. Paradise Theater was awful, with the exception of Snowblind, which I like.

The music board may be the only one more pompous and ignorant than the poli board. It's the "my way or the highway" mindset for many.

Well, comparing Styx to Rush is just asking for it. I have an idea for the next face off:

Well, most folks don't get as worked up about it as you. Neither band was as awful as some of you think at one time, but Rush should win in a landslide, but that is just my opinion.

Rush plays Styx covers when they get too drunk.

A friend of mine once said of "jazz": if you can't hum along with it, it ain't a song. I can hum along to a lot more Styx songs than Rush songs, though I never really cared for either band.

By coincidence, I recently spent a little time "You Tubing" songs by both bands, mainly LP tunes that did not get radio play. I did so because I wanted to see if I could figure out why each had rabid fan bases. I discovered that both bands are better than I gave them credit for, especially Styx.

However, I think Rush could have been an even greater superpower if they rocked straight out instead of meandering around. I was given a copy of Rush's first LP way back when the band was brand new. It's a pretty solid rock LP.

Seems to be the consensus opinion. And I agree.
