I think it's people giving NWA credit for the solo careers of all involved. If you count Cube and Dre's solo albums, I could see putting NWA ahead. I would still vote PE, but I can see the logic behind a NWA vote. Based on their actual output as a group? No. I don't think it's particularly close.

I agree with all of those except REM. Smashing Pumpkins SUCKS as well but they at least have "a world is a vampire" which makes them better than REM.
