I listen to Jan Hammer's Miami Vice collection every once in awhile.

Certainly do. Here's a couple of my favorites

Michel Legrand from Vivre Sa Vie
Miles Davis from Elevator to the Gallows
Just happened on the full soundtrack from that LINK I believe it's all Miles Davis

The Michel Legrand one is one of my absolute favorite things to listen to. It has such a haunting and melancholic feel to it, just a very beautiful piece of music. It fits that film perfectly.

Quincy Jones also did some good soundtrack work, but I can't really think off the top of me head of any that's just instrumental.

Anyone ever listen to them as background noise or just to relax after a long day? These are some of my favorites from my playlist but share yours.

I certainly do, and have a couple hundred audio files I have edited. I often make playlists with Windows Media Player and do housework, edit photographs, or actual paperwork.

Chi Mai from The Professional - a tribute to the late Ennio Morricone by percussionist Sina Doering and keyboard Rick Benbow. She has some other good instumentals if you want links to some.

Of course the aforementioned Ennio Morricone was one of the greatest film composers ever. Just search for his stuff.

Noting your interests, I also suggest this Lord of the Rings inspired composition by Sina, with the vocals (in Elvish) likely by her sister Milena.
