They weren’t even the best artists in their band and both are immensely more famous solely on the fact that they died earlier in their lives.
curious, how old are you?
Lennon was easily the most famous and sought after member of the most successful band in history BEFORE his death.
and when Nevermind took off, they were credited with making the Grunge movement what it was.
Kurt was “the voice of a generation” even before releasing In Utero.
even their Unplugged set was considered to be all-time great before Kurt died (only a couple months, but still before).

Yoko Ono.
Possibly the worst female singer of all time. I'd rather listen to alley cats f**king.
doesn’t someone have to “rate you” in order to be overrated?

I'd add Prince to the list as well. I know a lot of people have started to over-rate his musicianship since he passed away and since they were able to watch him butcher and hack up "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in 2005.
But in all honesty the guy went through a period of about 30 years when his music absolutely blew. ...and I previously really liked the guy.
There were 2 or 3 good to mediocre songs off Around the World in a Day ('85), and then it was all downhill after that.
IMO obviously.

I haven't read anything past the first page so maybe this has already been mentioned but Lenny Kravitz deserves a vote.
