Man, that's hard. I love quite a few songs on that album.
Probably Trucker's Atlas, but I also love Doin' the Cockroach and Styrofoam Boots. Heart Cooks Brain is awesome too.
Hell I pretty much love every song on the album except shite Luck, which is a truly horrible song.

My all time favorite MM song is Styrofoam Boots, so that would cover that as well. But other than that, probably Teeth Like God's Shoeshine.

MM is better than most of the muddled, "sounds the same crap" out today. Most of the indy stuff out is unoriginal and it all sounds like the same regurgitated stuff. MM had some really good songs but I can't listen to a whole album. Just bits and pieces here and there. Still much better than 99% of the indy stuff put out.

I'm just sick of the over-produced "Yeaaaah yeaaaah" stuff that is in wrestling promos and high school kids listen to. There is too much garbage in rock.

I am now halfway through the entire Modest Mouse discography going one album per week. Here are my thoughts so far:
This Is a Long Drive For Someone With Nothing to Think About - I guess this is where it all begins. The first thing I noticed about this album is that it is fricking LONG. Regardless, there are some fantastic tracks like Dramamine, Dog Paddle, Exit Does Not Exist, and Make Everyone Happy/Mechanical Birds (goddamn, what a great track this one is), just to name a few.
The Fruit that Ate Itself - Not a terrible EP, but wholly unspectacular outside of tracks Dirty Fingernails, and The Fruit that Ate Itself.
The Lonesome Crowded West - And here is where it gets really good. I posted earlier that it was the Pitchfork Classic episode that inspired me to go through with all this, and I re-watched that episode while listening to this. Outside of Lounge (I didn't like it on TIALDWNTTA, and I don't like it on TLCW), there isn't a weak spot on the album. I find it to be an improvement from their first album, especially in regards to lyrics.
Building Nothing Out of Something - A collection of A-sides, B-sides, and a previous EP Interstate 8, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Although it seemed to lack the spastic noise that the previous releases had, I think here is where they set the stage for they would sound like on the latter MM albums. A very good collection of songs.
The Moon & Antarctica - This is the Modest Mouse sound that I remember (I first started listening to the band way late into their career). A gem of a record, hard to really find anything to complain about. Clocking in at just under an hour, it doesn't wear you down like their previous full lengths would. And still, every track feels fresh. It's easy to see why people hold this one in such high regard.
Current Ranking in Descending Order From Best to Not-the-Best, Per My Own Personal Musical Tastes:
1. The Moon & Antarctica
2. The Lonesome Crowded West
3. Building Nothing Out of Something

That is probably how I would have them. Maybe flip Long Drive and Build Nothing out of Something.

I really like old MM, but I thought good news and We were dead were awesome. I know it's not cool to like those though

then i am not cool. i love all modest mouse. M&A and LCW are definitely my two favorites, but it is all great to me.
eta: when i agreed with those rankings i was under the assumption that he hadn't listened to those two yet, thus why they weren't ranked.

I have tried to find a Modest Mouse album that I don't like even a little and I can't do it.
The Moon & Antarctica is probably my favorite. It's cool that they went with a label and still put out a great album.
I love Tiny Cities Made of Ashes in addition to the songs that have been listed by people here. My favorite song is probably Gravity Rides Everything.

I really like the longer, jammier stuff (Trucker's Atlas, Styrofoam Boots, Stars are Projectors, Other People's Lives, Edit the Sad Parts, etc.) from Modest Mouse.
I know Brock and his lyrics get most of the attention but the band can really fricking play.
