Metallica has been doing a ton of one-off shows recently around the world, and hasn't done a proper U.S. tour in around seven years. It looks like that streak will be coming to an end this year, as a stadium tour trek consisting of Metallica, Volbeat, and Avenged Sevenfold is rumored.

please make a stop in NOLA

Its supposed to be 20 dates this summer. They want to limit themselves to 50 a year from now on. I assume most of those will still be in Europe though. Openers suck, but whatever I only care about Metallica.

I will be going to one of these shows wherever they are(obviously). I actually love Sevenfold & have no problem with them being on the bill. Volbeat has to be one of the worst rock bands I have ever seen live. I have no idea why people like them. They are Danish & are good friends with guys in Metallica so there you go. I think they need at least one more bigger act to make this worthwhile. Megadeth would be perfect.

This same lineup sold 43,000 tickets in Minneapolis last summer. It will do just fine.

You must not have seen very many rock bands live. Their live show is good.

Why would I go to that, their live show sucks and they suck.

If you don't like Volbeat as a band, that's fine, but their live show is a good show.

Don't worry. I was just busting your balls for liking Volbeat. I think we can all agree that Nickelback is a disgrace.

Fair enough. I think the biggest hurdle for Volbeat that most can't get over is the lead's voice. I happen to like it because I have a weird fascination with unique voices that I can't explain, so that never bothered me. I won't speak to the most recent album, because it was pretty much garbage besides one or two songs. The rest of their stuff has a good sound, assuming you can palate Poulsen's voice.

They do put on a good live show though. I've seen them at a large venue and a small one, and both were good. Interactive, some stage affects, etc.

They obviously took a lot of inspiration from Metallica, so as far as an opener for them, they get you in the mood for Metallica, IMO.

You are dead on correct. I could not agree more. His voice just ruins it for me & they are not heavy enough for me. But hey, I love RUSH & a lot of people hate Geddy Lee's voice but I have no issues with him. I can see why people don't like his voice though. To each their own.....

I can understand that. They way they've described themselves is if you blend Metallica, Johnny Cash, and Elvis together, you get their style of music. I couldn't agree more. Songs like 7 Shots, 16 Dollars, Hangman's Body Count, Dead But Rising, and Room 24 show off that style pretty well. Those are the main ones I get someone to listen to when they've never listened to them before. If they don't like those, not for them.

Avenged is another band that for a while I was not into, but they've recently hit a string of some really good releases IMO. Their show is why I'd want to see them though. I have heard it is also a great one to witness, even if you aren't a huge fan of them as a band.

Overall, if this tour happens and comes anywhere near the Southeast, I'm there.

Terrible openers but I'll still be there. Was hoping they would bring mastodon, gojira, and baroness on tour.

Official dates come out Monday, but for now
quote:

We have been fortunate enough to hear that the 1st leg of the tour will run from 5/21/17 thru 7/03/17. While we do not know all of the cities / dates, we can confirm reports of local radio stations in the following cities dropping hints that they will receive a tour stop when the tour is officially announced on Monday, 2-13-17:
Columbus, OH (Rock On The Range) confirmed Philadelphia, PA
Chicago, IL
St. Louis, MO
Denver, CO
Dallas, TX
Tulsa, OK
Detroit, MI
Washington DC
Boston, MA
San Diego, CA
Rumor has it that A7X will coheadliner select dates which will be stadium sized concerts with Volbeat opening. On the dates A7X do not perform the concerts will be held in arenas with Volbeat serving as the opening band.

Looks like New Orleans will have to wait until next year unless Voodoo brings them back.

I'm ok with Atlanta getting a date next year if it means different openers.
