New album is out today. Just listened all the way through. It’s similar to their first two albums: Songs/tales about ghosts, the dead, love, being lost on a journey…all to the tunes of psychedelic country western. There’s usually a connecting theme throughout the whole album so I’ll give it a few more to try and figure that out.

The last album kind of lost me. Didn’t listen to it as much and long as the first two.

After about 4-5 listens I’m starting to really dig this album. I recommend checking it out.

Not a huge fan of whole album. Really really like a few songs. Especially the singles they put out before the album dropped.

Huge LH fan. This one is not doing it for me after the first couple of spins. Have similar thoughts as OP. Just seems like a retreat to old form but with less hooks. We've left time, space, and the galaxy and are back on land on a road trip or spaghetti western pining on lost loves or love lost. Just more solipsistic, peripatetic Ben. But did appreciate the intro of some irony for once on "I lied." Refreshing.

I'm sure i'll love it after a few more listens but right now there is nothing special that just jumps out at you like most of their albums (and they usually have several that jump out each album on first listen).

1st two albums were two of my favorite albums of all time. They quickly became one of my favorite bands and they are great live.

Vida Noir was kind of disappointing because they sounded like a completely different band. They obviously went back to their roots with this one but im not crazy about it through two listens now.

The interludes are really odd. I mean there is one that is 14 minutes long that just sounds like ocean waves the entire time. What is the point of that?

I’ve been trying to figure out the theme. What’s the deal with the radio or tv show?

I’ll say it. Outside of a few tracks vide noir sucked.

This album is a welcome return to what I love about this band. It’s unfair to them to expect “Strange Trails” (one of my favorite albums ever) out of them every time they release a record. While it’s no strange trails,I love this so far on the first spin.

It seems they are going for some kind of hippie western variety show with the theme. That doesn’t really work but the songs that are actually songs are great.
