frick that. I wish BR would move away from its fascination with shitty cover bands. If you want to see a cover band, have it a party or wedding. There are so many better options involving people playing their own damn music and not the 10,000th cover of "Jesse's Girl".

100% agree, way too many cover bands.
But the Flamethrowers do the cover thing right.

It's been getting better. Last year they had Marc Broussard with Jason Martin opening on one of the days. I would like to see more New Orleans groups play.

I get what you are saying, but you aren't being realistic. This is Live After Five. An all ages event. Typical for a cover band or well known act to play, as would be the same for any similar event in other cities.

People don't go to live after five solely for the music. People go to be social. I'm not saying that non cover bands can work in that, but cover bands probably suit it better. It's more background music.

Yeah, you're right and that's definitely true. I just wish it wasn't the case. I wish we could have nice things. Blues Fest is a great time, I'll say that.
